Reflection and Remembrance
Astley Hall was donated as a war memorial in 1922 by Sir Reginald Arthur Tatton. After the two minute silence at 11.02am, please join us at Astley to reflect on and remember those we lost.
Chorley 100 will open at 11.02am, and there will be a musical performance on the stage within the Garden of Reflection. Children can find out more about WWI as part of a specially made trail within Chorley 100 and there will also be WWI object handling sessions. Also, watch the beautiful documentary exploring the symbolism behind the newly created Garden of Reflection. Within the Hall, visit the Memorial Room and Townley Parker Room to discover more about Susannah Knight and her golden memorial books and view the roll of honour. Discover the memorial stone within the Walled Garden, commissioned in 2014 to commemorate 100 years since the beginning of the Great War.
