Horticultural businesses are being encouraged to get their applications in for the award-winning Chorley Flower Show.
Organisers of the show Chorley Council is now taking interest from professional exhibitors, traders and those interested in creating a show garden for the Astley Park-based event.
Organiser Chorley Council is expecting to attract up to 20,000 people to the show, which has gone from strength-to-strength since it started in 2015.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council, said: “The flower show has proved a huge success for businesses since it started with many exceeding their expectations.
“Interest in the show is continuing to grow and our focus on gardening and horticulture is really helping to attract visitors who come to the show to buy products, as well as enjoy the entertainment.
“It’d be particularly good to get more applications from Chorley-based businesses as the economic benefits of taking part in this type of show have been demonstrated by the feedback we get from those who have taken part in the first four years.”
The show, which will once again be sponsored by Botany Bay, features:
• A professional exhibitors’ marquee
• Show gardens
• Horticultural trade stands
• Talks from celebrity gardeners
• An amateur and society section – with regional competitions for the National Sweet Pea Society and Rose Society UK
• A chance to see the historic Astley Hall decked out in floral displays plus much more
It will take place on Saturday and Sunday 27 and 28 July 2019, with applications closing in January.
“The one area of the show we are particularly keen to grow is the show gardens so if there are landscapers who are looking to generate more business this could be the perfect opportunity,” said Councillor Bradley.
“We’ve had our RHS Chelsea Flower Show exhibit ‘The Evaders’ Garden and this year we had the fantastic ‘Garden of Reflection’ produced by award-winning designer John Everiss and we now want to really develop this part of the show.
“The gardens are professionally judged with prize money and will go in front of a huge audience over the show weekend.”
