Work will start on erecting the steel structure for the Market Walk extension in the New Year as progress continues at pace to build the £12M development.
Shopping centre owners Chorley Council are bringing a new offer to the town centre including a six-screen Reel Cinema and a M&S Foodhall, with click and collect.
The eight-unit extension is due to open at the start of December 2019 with visitors eagerly anticipating its arrival.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council, said: “Over the last few weeks we have been completing the piling and in the run up to Christmas we’ve been getting all the foundations in place.
“In the New Year we will move on to building the steel structure and it’ll be exciting to see the building work taking place above ground level.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience while the work has been taking place and we’ll keep everyone updated as progress is made.”
The development is part of a plan to give the town centre a long term future and attract new visitors.
Interest in the remaining units is continuing to grow with the two tenants already signed up to the scheme joined by Loungers bar and restaurant.
“It’s a really big year for Chorley in 2019 as we will be completing this development alongside the Primrose Gardens housing scheme with care and the Strawberry Fields Digital Hub,” said Councillor Bradley.
“It’s a really positive sign to have all this development taking place and between them they will create hundreds of jobs and provide a vital source of income that we can put towards providing services for residents.”
