Chorley Council introduced the park and ride on Tuesdays and Saturdays to provide extra parking spaces in the run up to Christmas but after creating dozens of new spaces since the turn of the year it has decided to stop the service.
The decision was taken with businesses attending the Town Team who felt that it was no longer needed.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Leader of Chorley Council, said: “We started operating the park and ride to create lots of free spaces in the run up to Christmas while there was a lot of pressure on the town centre spaces.
“We’ve since opened up dozens of new parking spaces in the town centre and after reviewing its usage traders told us they didn’t think we needed the park and ride service to continue.
“We’ll be happy to keep this under review and if it is felt that it would be helpful to bring the service back at busy periods such as the run up to Christmas then we’ll certainly look at that.”
The service operated every Tuesday and Saturday from Morrisons to Union Street.
