Residents in Chorley can look forward to spending time in the gym or making a splash in the pool as all the Chorley Council-run facilities are set to re-open from 12 April.
The authority's decision to take the management back in-house means the future of the leisure centres is secure and the re-opening will follow the Government's roadmap out of the current restrictions.
To start with the centres will be open for bookable lane swimming and gym sessions. This includes Brinscall Swimming pool, Clayton Green Sports Centre and All Seasons Leisure Centre.
Councillor Alistair Bradley, Chorley Council Leader said, "We all know how important it is to keep fit and healthy both for our physical and mental wellbeing and I'm delighted that we are able to open our leisure centres for booking on 12 April.
"When we took back ownership of our leisure facilities, our goal was to ensure that we can provide high quality facilities which will be for the benefit to all of our residents.
"While the centres have been closed, we have taken the opportunity to complete maintenance works and deep cleaning to make sure the centres are ready to re-open.
"We look forward to welcoming people back to the centres and being able to offer the full range of swimming, leisure and fitness classes later in the year."
Safety is a priority at the sites and all will have robust covid-secure measures in place along with enhanced cleaning regimes following an initial deep clean before the centres reopen.
