You can apply for an additional green bin if you think you do not have enough space for your non-recyclable household waste. Usually this is because:

  • there are 6 or more people living in your home
  • someone has a medical condition that means you have extra waste
  • there are 2 or more in nappies in your home.

In order to see if you genuinely need extra waste capacity, we complete a waste audit. This is a visit to your house to look at what waste your household produces and to check that you recycle as much as possible.

Apply for an additional green bin

You need to complete a waste audit application form to apply for an additional green bin.

Waste audit application

Once you have completed the form please return it by email to contact@chorley.gov.uk, alternatively you can post it to Civic Offices, Union Street, Chorley, PR7 1AL.

When we receive your completed application, we will contact you on the phone number provided to arrange a visit. Once the audit is complete, an additional green bin may be offered, but there will be a £32 charge for this. The charge may be waived where the extra waste is due to a medical condition or there are other exceptional circumstances.

We will instruct our collection crews that you are authorised for an additional green bin. Only authorised additional bins will be emptied.
