A licence is required if you provide accommodation to other people's dogs or cats.
Accommodation includes commercial kennels, catteries, home boarding and day care centres.
We may call upon the service of an approved vet for new applications.
Apply for an animal boarding licence
To apply for an animal boarding licence please complete the animal boarding application form and return it by email to contact@chorley.gov.uk or by post to Civic Offices, Union Street, Chorley, PR7 1AL.
Before applying for any animal welfare licence, you may wish to discuss your business proposal with us first.
We aim to process applications within 21 days
Animal boarding licence evaluation criteria
The following criteria will be considered when the application is being evaluated:
- animals will be kept in suitable accommodation at all times
- suitable food, drink and bedding materials will be provided and that animals are exercised and visited regularly
- steps are taken to control the spread of disease among the animals
- adequate protection is provided to the animals in case of fire and other emergencies
- a register is kept containing a description of animals received, their arrival and departure date and name and address of the owner.
