Parliamentary General elections

A Parliamentary Election (commonly known as a General Election) is an opportunity for people in every part of the UK to choose their MP. This person will represent a local area (constituency) in the House of Commons for up to 5 years.

The borough of Chorley is split into 2 different parliamentary constituencies, most of which are located in the Chorley Constituency. While the areas of Eccleston, Mawdesley, Bretherton, Croston and Ulnes Walton fall into the constituency of South Ribble at present.

At the next scheduled election the boundaries will change.  Most of the borough remains in the Chorley Constituency.  However, the Croston, Bretherton and Euxton South borough ward and the Eccleston, Heskin and Charnock Richard borough ward will be situated in the South Ribble constituency.
