About the area

Harpers Lane Recreation Ground is a Green Flag park. The site has the following facilities:  

• a bowling green with bowling hut which is managed by the community
• a large play area for ages 2 to 12
• a multi-use games area for football, basketball and cricket
• a metal ramped skate park
• a pump track for bikes and scooters
• improvements to paths and entrance points including a woodland and meadow walk
• a notice board displays local information and activities.

Bowling Green 

The bowling green at Harpers Rec is the winter green for the Borough.  It is used from the end of September through to end March.  The green is generally not used in the summer to let the grass recover ready for the winter season. 

The green is locked and only authoriosed key holders have access.   The green is open to the public from 12:15 to 3:30pm every afternoon in good weather.  It will be closed in heavy  rain, frost or snow.
