Gaming machine permits

The Gambling Act 2005 provides for a number of different permits for various gambling activities, including gaming machines and prize gaming in alcohol licensed premises.

There are different categories of gaming machines covered by licences and permits.

View guidance and application forms on the Gambling Commission website.

Holders of permits for gaming machines are required to comply with codes of practice, drawn up by the Gambling Commission on the location and operation of machines. Information on these codes can be found on the Gambling Commission website.

We may only grant or reject an application for a permit. No conditions may be attached to a permit. The types of permits that may be granted are as follows:

  • unlicensed family entertainment centre permit
  • club gaming permits and club machine permits
  • alcohol licensed premises gaming machine permits
  • prize gaming permits

If you are the premises licence holder of a premises licence under the Licensing Act 2003 which authorises the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises, you are automatically entitled to make 2 category C or D gaming machines available for use, provided you give notice to us and pay the prescribed fee of £50. Download  Notification of 2 gaming machines on "on-licensed" premises (Word doc) [172KB] , send it to us by email at licensing@chorley.gov.uk and call us to make payment.
