Better Health, Better Self

This is Chorley Council's healthy lifestyle advice service which aims to support you to lose weight and feel great! It aims to provide you with the confidence and knowledge to make changes within your lifestyle which improves both your physical and mental wellbeing. We aim to give you the tools and motivation in a supportive environment to put you on the right track to Better Health...for a Better Self!

About the 'Better Health, Better Self' course

We begin with face to face sessions that will last for 10 weeks in total. You will be weighed each week to track your progress. There will be a new topic discussed each week in our small, non-judgemental groups. Topics covered include

  • Energy balance
  • Portion sizes
  • Food groups
  • Food labelling
  • New routines and habits
  • Sleep
  • Wellbeing
  • Alcohol
  • Physical activity
  • Maintenance

Even after you've concluded our initial sessions, we'll still be there to help keep you on track and will check in with you for a full year. You'll also be able to join our private Facebook group in which a growing community of fellow service users will be offering peer support and sharing their own experiences on their journey to Better Health, Better Self.

Do I have to take part in physical activity?

There will be no physical activity on the main 10 week learning sessions however we do offer low impact exercise such as scheduled weekly walks. These are not compulsory, but we do encourage participation.
