Employment training and support
There is a variety of training and support available to help residents to enter employment and to thrive in work. There is also a range of programmes employers can utilise to upskill their existing employees.
Skills bootcamps
Skills Bootcamps are intensive and flexible courses of up to 16 weeks. These courses give you the opportunity to gain and develop specific skills and you will be offered a guaranteed job interview upon completion of the course. Residents
You may be eligible to join a skills bootcamp in Lancashire if you:
- are aged 19 or over
- live in Lancashire, including Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool
- have lived in the UK for 3 or more years, or you are a qualifying refugee
- can commit the time to complete the course, and have a real desire to increase your earnings.
Employers
Employers can offer a bootcamp graduate a guaranteed interview. These graduates can bring new ideas and have recently acquired skills to apply in your business.
You can also upskill your existing staff with just a 10% contribution for SMEs and a 30% contribution for larger employers.

Skills For Work
Skills for Work can help you find the information and support you need to succeed. This can help you when you are looking for a job, facing redundancy, wanting to upskill, and wishing to develop your existing skills. This also covers information and advice for people aged 16 to 24 and looking for support.

Lancashire County Council - Employment Support Service
If you have a disability and need help finding paid work, the Employment Support Service can help. They can support you to find the right job to suit your experience and skills and once you are in work they will keep in touch to see how you are settling in and support you to become independent at work

The King's Trust
The King's Trust help people aged 11 to 30 years old to develop essential life skills, prepare for work and access job opportunities.

National Careers Service
The National Careers Service offers a find a course tool. This tool allows you to search for both online and classroom based courses near you. These can help you to gain skills to prepare for work or develop your existing skills.

Runshaw College
Runshaw College offer a variety of adult courses, from functional skills to level 5 qualifications, with start dates throughout the year.

Blackburn College
Blackburn College offer a range of courses for adult learners and believe that all adults can return to study. These courses can support you to make your next careers move, enter employment, or gain a promotion.

Armed Forces Covenant
The Armed Forces Covenant can offer support to veterans, this includes:
- Job searching
- CV writing
- Identifying transferable skills
- General employment and skills support.
