Chorley Council is encouraging local businesses to apply for its Net Zero Accreditation Scheme.

The initiative is designed to recognise and celebrate companies that are leading the way in reducing their carbon emissions and adopting more sustainable practices.

The scheme, which is part of the Chorley Council’s wider ambitious goal to achieving net zero, aims to showcase organisations that are already taking proactive steps to operate more sustainably.

Gayle Wootton, Director of Property and Planning at Chorley Council, said: “We know that many Chorley businesses are already working hard to reduce their environmental impact, and we want to reward those efforts as well as inspire and support others on this journey.

“This accreditation is about celebrating the progress made and providing a platform to showcase their commitment to customers and the wider community here in Chorley.

“We hope that it will inspire more businesses to come forward and take a step in their journey towards net zero, so we are urging businesses to come forward and apply.”

The scheme is open to all Chorley-based businesses, regardless of size or sector and successful applicants will be awarded with an official accreditation.

Up to 10 businesses will be awarded following a rigorous assessment process, which includes an application review and an in-person interview with an expert panel.

Applications close 29th July 2025.
