Walking, wheeling and cycling

Walking, wheeling and cycling (Active Travel) are great ways to be more active and make easy sustainable choices. The best part is they are cheap, great for the environment and your health. For longer journeys you could consider if an electric bike would be more suitable or perhaps only driving part of the way and walking for the rest.

The Borough has a number of on and off road routes which you can find on these Visit Lancashire Chorley maps:

Fancy going further? Lancashire County has many cycle routes that can be used for commuting as well as leisure purposes. More information can be found on the Visit Lancashire Cycling Lancashire website.

As a Council we are committed to working with the local highways authority at County level to develop and improve plans to enable walking, wheeling and cycling across Chorley Borough. As part of this we have commented on the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans prepared by Lancashire County Council.

Until the 24th of October residents can now comment on these draft plans for the Borough.
