CIL instalments policy
Full payment of the levy charge is due within 60 days of the commencement of the chargeable development.
However, we may establish an instalments policy for payments as per the Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations 2010 (as amended), Regulation 69B.
We have applied the following instalment policy, shown in the table below, in line with Regulation 69B, in respect of developments upon which CIL is liable. These instalment periods and values are not negotiable.
Should development be commenced without notification to the council, failure to assume liability, and / or prior to approval of the development, then the CIL will fall due in full immediately from the deemed commencement date as described in Regulation 7, and in accordance with Regulation 71. The option for instalments is revoked.
We will send a CIL Demand Notice stating the amounts due and the due dates when the CIL payment is triggered. You can either wait to be invoiced, pay over the phone by calling 01257 515151 or use our online payments system to make your payment. Your CIL Demand Notice will detail your due dates – you do not require an invoice to make payment. It is your responsibility to ensure the payments are made in time.
When paying, please ensure you use the Invoice Reference number, or alternatively, the Planning Permission reference if no invoice has been received / issued for your CIL liability.
As per Regulation 72, CIL payments are deemed to have been received by the council on the day in which it receives the cleared funds. Therefore, if you are paying by cheque, you must ensure that it is submitted to the council at least 10 working days prior to the date payment is due.
