Under the National Concessionary Travel Scheme, NoWcard bus passes are available which allow travel at a reduced rate. The NoWcard scheme is administered by Lancashire County Council.
This scheme offers discounted bus travel for people who have reached state pension age and also people who have disabilities.
A senior railcard is available to anyone 60 years or over, you can save up to 1/3 on standard and first class rail fares throughout Great Britain.
Bus pass
If you live in Lancashire and either meet the age criteria or are disabled, you may be eligible for a NoWcard which entitles you to reduced cost travel within certain times.
The age of eligibility for concessionary travel for women is pension age and for men it is the pensionable age of a woman born on the same day. You can check eligibility on the NoWcard website.

NoWcard is a partnership between Chorley Council, the County Councils of Cumbria and Lancashire, Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool Borough Councils and the 18 district councils of Lancashire and Cumbria.

If you are applying for the first time, and are of pensionable age, you can to apply online.
If you are applying for a disabled persons bus pass you will need to provide proof of your disability, depending on your disability you may need to apply direct to Nowcard.

Senior railcard
With a senior railcard anyone 60 years or over can save 1/3 on standard and first class rail fares throughout Great Britain for 12 whole months.
You can now apply for a 1 year or a 3 year senior railcard.
Railcards will be valid for 1 year or 3 years from the date of issue.
- 1 year pass will cost £30
- 3 year pass will cost £70
No refunds will be given.
If you lose your railcard a £10 administration fee will be charged for a replacement.
Renewing your railcard
You will be reminded via email or letter annually when your railcard is due for renewal.
You no longer need to complete a form, you can apply online. You will need to register for the first time using a valid email address.
You should enter the unique promotional code which will be on your renewal letter. This entitles you to a discount on the railcards standard charge.

You will need your debit or credit card and either your driving licence or passport number to verify your age and address, you will also need a valid email address for applying online.

Using your railcard
You can use your senior railcard for long and short trips at almost any time during the week and at weekends. The only restriction is for travel during the morning peak period, Monday to Friday (not including Public Holidays).
The times of morning off-peak services do vary by route, so it's best to check with ticket office staff before buying your tickets.
