(a) Members have rights of access to documents, information, land and buildings of the Council as necessary for the proper discharge of their functions and in accordance with the law.

(b) Members must not make public information that is confidential or exempt(2) without the consent of the Council or, unless permitted in law, divulge information given in confidence to anyone other than a Member or officer entitled to know it.

(c) Members must observe the Members’ Code of Conduct (and any other codes and protocols adopted by the Council) to ensure high standards in the way they undertake their duties.

(d) Members are entitled to receive allowances in accordance with the Members’ Allowances Scheme. The Scheme is approved having regard to an Independent Remuneration Panel’s recommendations.

(e) Whenever a public event is organised by the Council to consider a local issue, all Members representing the Ward(s) affected will, as a matter of course, be invited to attend the event. Similarly, whenever the Council undertakes any form of consultative exercise on a local issue, the Ward councillors will be notified at the outset of the exercise.
