Community Clean ups and skip days are run across the borough throughout the year.
The Council fund and situate a 35-yard walk in skip, so residents can come and dispose of their rubbish more locally to where they live. This helps to prevent residents fly tipping in local areas.
We can support more vulnerable residents with pick-ups from our team on the day of each event, subject to availability.
We also offer litter picking equipment out to residents on the morning of each event where the skip will be situated if residents would like to volunteer to have a spring clean of their local area.
What waste CAN be disposed of?
The skip accepts any unwanted household items and household rubbish.
What waste CANNOT be disposed of?
The skip does not accept any trade waste or hazardous materials. This includes items such as paint tins containing paint, rubber tyres or gas bottles.
I am a vulnerable resident and need some assistance…
If you are a vulnerable resident and cannot deliver your items to the skip, you can ask for assistance from our team.
Please call 01257 515151 and ask for communities or email communities@chorley.gov.uk
We will ask for a full list of items, your address and a telephone number in case of emergencies on the morning of the event.
Please note: Staff are unable to enter any properties or rear gardens, so the items you wish to dispose of will need to be made accessible outside at the front of your property.
We normally ask that these requests be made at least 5 working days in advance of the event, however in exceptional circumstances allowances can be made, subject to availability.
Please note that any waste will only be collected by us if you live in the area / ward, where the skip day is taking place. Furthermore, we will only collect waste, if contact has been made with us prior the event and agreed / arranged by us to collect it.
