Picnic in the Park

Pack up your picnics, gather family and friends and check out Chorley’s Astley Park for an afternoon of free fun and entertainment as Sid and Rebecca from CBeebies head to the town’s annual Picnic in the Park event.

Chorley Council is teaming up with Rock FM to bring a fantastic family stage show to Astley Park between 12 noon and 4pm with performances from various acts including Sid and Rebecca from the Cbeebies show Let's Play, children’s entertainers, top local singers, as well as face painters, balloon modellers and more. This event is suitable for all the family.

On the day there will be lots of free fun including interactive activities for children like circus workshops, sports, games, arts and crafts, football challenges with Chorley Football Club, meet the animals of Pets Corner and not forgetting the opportunity to explore Astley Hall and the exhibitions in Astley Farmhouse.

Anyone driving to Picnic in the Park is being encouraged to be considerate of the residents of Astley Village and either park at Woodlands car park on Southport Road and use the Ackhurst Lodge entrance to Astley Park or park at one of the town centre car parks, which are free on Sundays and are only a short walk from the Park Road or Queens Road entrances to Astley Park. Hallgate car park will have limited parking for blue badge holders only.

A free park and ride service will be running for Picnic in the Park to make it easier to get to the event for those parking in the town centre and at Woodlands College on Southport Road.  The free picnic park and ride will run every fifteen minutes from the bus stop on Union Street at the side of Booths and will stop off at Woodlands on Southport Road and then drop off at the top of Hallgate in Astley Village, which is just behind Astley Hall.  The bus will then make the return journey stopping off at the same stops.  The first bus will depart from the Booths bus stop on Union Street at 11.30am and the last bus will depart from Hallgate, Astley Village at 4.15pm.

All car parks in the town centre are free on Sunday but please remember that the Flat Iron is now a two hour maximum stay car park.
