Chorley Women's Centre

Dedicated to supporting women of all ages and regardless of circumstances. Warm, friendly, approachable and fully trained in supportive listening and can provide information on many topics.

Chorley Women's Centre will help women find solutions to their problems so they can feel empowered to help themselves and provides a listening ear either on a one to one basis for personal issues or communal area where ladies can chat and discuss many topics to support mental health and wellbeing.

The centre offers numerous activities throughout the month.

General Counselling offers clients the opportunity to explore difficulties around a diverse range of issues such as:

Circle Counselling Service

Circle Counselling specialises in offering counselling to women, men, and children over the age of 13 affected by domestic violence or abuse recently or in the past. Circle work in conjunction with the Women’s Centre and operate throughout the week, offering telephone and online counselling sessions.

Release Counselling Service

Release Counselling specialises in offering counselling to women and men affected by:

  • sexual abuse
  • rape
  • sexual assault.

Mental Health Crisis Support

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis and need help straight away, you can:

Crisis Café's

There are Crisis Café's in Chorley and the surrounding areas who can offer help to those who need urgent mental health support or may be finding it hard to deal with anxiety, loneliness and other difficult feelings.

The closest Crisis Café for Preston, Chorley and South Ribble is The Central Lancashire Haven crisis café . This is available to people living in Preston, Chorley and South Ribble aged 16 plus.

The Community Prevention and Engagement Team (CPET) practice a person centred, strength-based approach to empower individuals to support their own mental health and wellbeing through social inclusion. This allows people to improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing by making community connections, developing support networks and engaging in meaningful occupation. Through a recovery focused support plan, CPET aims to build people's confidence and resilience to achieve personal goals.

Andy's Man Club are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free peer-support groups for men across the UK. They meet every Monday at 7pm (excluding bank holidays) at Chorley Football Club, Duke St, Chorley PR7 3DU.

Beside you in Bereavement

If you are experiencing loss through suicide, there is a peer support group which meets every 2 weeks on Thursdays, 12pm to 2pm at Lancaster Way Community Centre, Buckshaw Village.
