People living and working in Coppull are being encouraged to have their say on plans that could help shape the future of the village for years to come.
The plan, which has been drafted by Coppull Parish Council, sets out a local vision for Coppull and includes policies to help guide future development, protect features that are important to the community and support the parish's future growth. The neighbourhood planning process for Coppull began after the parish was formally designated as a Neighbourhood Area by Chorley Council in 2021.
The consultation gives residents, businesses, and community groups the opportunity to review the submitted plan and provide feedback before it moves to the next stage of the neighbourhood planning process.
Cabinet Member for Planning and Development, Councillor Alex Hilton, said: "This is a great opportunity for local people to help shape the future of Coppull.
"The neighbourhood plan has been developed by Coppull Parish Council with input from residents and local stakeholders, and it reflects the community's aspirations for the area.
"We recognise how hard the volunteers have worked to develop this plan, dedicating their time and effort to ensuring it reflects the views and ambitions of the local community.
"Nobody understands the needs of the area better than the people who live there, which is why it is so important that residents have their say.
"We want as many people as possible to take part in the consultation.
"Whether you've lived in Coppull all your life, recently moved to the area, or run a local business, your views matter and we would encourage you to let us know what you think."
Neighbourhood plans give communities a greater say in how their area develops. Once approved, the Coppull Neighbourhood Plan will become part of the development plan for Chorley and will help guide planning decisions in the parish alongside the council's wider planning policies.
All comments received during the consultation will be carefully considered before the plan is passed to an independent examiner. The examiner will assess whether the plan meets the necessary legal requirements and planning policies before recommending the next steps.
The consultation runs for eight weeks and ends on 7 September 2026. During this time, residents and other interested parties can review the plan and submit their comments.
