Chorley sign with giant wellies

Thousands of visitors descended on Astley Park last weekend for Chorley Flower Show, which has grown to be one of the region's most popular summer events.

The annual show, in its eleventh year, attracted around 15,000 visitors for 2026, with attendees travelling from across the region and beyond to enjoy special guests, spectacular floral displays, expert gardening advice, live demonstrations and a packed programme of entertainment over three days. 

Special guests included renowned television gardeners Charlie Dimmock and David Domoney, alongside Jonathan Moseley, Martin and Jill Fish. BBC Radio Lancashire’s Sharon Hartley brought the event to life for listeners across the county broadcasting from the show, and a special performance by the Red Barrows and BBC Radio Lancashire's Graham Liver stole the show on Friday. 

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council said: “What an outstanding weekend for Chorley! It’s been fantastic to see so many people from across Lancashire and beyond enjoying Chorley Flower Show which is one of our most successful events yet. 

“The event continues to grow showcasing the best of horticulture, entertainment and of course community spirit. It’s a great opportunity to attract visitors to Chorley and show them what our fabulous town has to offer. 

“Thanks to visitors, contributors, sponsors and partners for helping to make it a huge success.” 

Highlights of the show also included stunning show gardens created by professional designers alongside imaginative displays from community groups, exhibits from award-winning growers, floral artists and amateur competition entrants. BBC Interior Design Masters finalist Rita Millat transformed Astley Hall with a beautiful installation and delivered a series of popular talks and workshops at the show. 

Families enjoyed a packed programme of activities in the family zone, including activities delivered by the Anderton Centre and Chorley FC Community Foundation, while four-legged visitors had the opportunity to watch or take part in dog agility demonstrations. 

The event also provides a valuable boost for traders and local businesses, attracting thousands of visitors to Chorley, in addition, the show offers an important platform for local organisations and community groups to showcase their work, engage with new audiences and raise awareness of the work they do.
