Two of Chorley’s events have been shortlisted for prestigious Lancashire Tourism Awards, which recognise excellence across the tourism sector.
The fabulous Chorley Flower Show has been named a finalist in the Large Event Award category demonstrating its growth and impact. No stranger to the awards, the flagship event reached new heights this summer, welcoming around 15,000 visitors to Astley Park to enjoy a marvellous mix of horticulture, community, and entertainment.
The popular Chorley 10K and 2K Family Run, organised by Chorley Council in partnership with Fylde Coast Runners, attracted around 3,000 race participants plus thousands of roaring supporters back in May, securing a well-deserved place as a finalist in the Small Event Category.
Both events achieved incredible visitor numbers in 2026 – this outstanding turnout helped to boost the local economy and showcased Chorley - the best of Lancashire all in one place, to visitors from across the region and beyond.
Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader for Chorley Council: “We’re absolutely delighted that two of our events have once again been recognised by the Lancashire Tourism Awards, demonstrating the continued success of our varied events programme.
“A huge amount of work goes into delivering these events and achieving growth year on year. With a packed schedule, widely recognised performers and diverse activities with broad appeal we are reaching new audiences and increasing visitor numbers, putting Chorley on the map as a premier event destination. Being shortlisted in the Large Event Award category is a fantastic milestone and testament to everyone involved.
"Fingers crossed for the award finals in February!"
Now in its eleventh year, Chorley Flower Show 2026 featured special guests including celebrity TV gardeners Charlie Dimmock and David Domoney, a highly anticipated comeback performance by the Red Barrows with BBC Radio Lancashire’s Graham Liver, alongside an outstanding line-up of live entertainment and all the horticultural highlights that visitors have come to love and expect.
The Chorley 10K and 2K Family Run injected an incredible energy into Chorley town centre. The chip-timed Chorley 10k attracted regular runners, fun runners and competitive club members alike, while the 2K Family Run offered the perfect route for families and friends to participate together. With thousands of spectators lining the course and enjoying the well-being village, the day celebrated achievements, community, wellbeing and entertainment.
The recent announcement from Lancashire Tourism Awards comes weeks after Astley Hall, Coach House and Park, owned and operated by Chorley Council, was shortlisted in the Small Visitor Attraction Award category.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony in February 2027.
