Competitors taking part in the Chorley 10k

The Chorley 10K and 2K Family Run returns to the town centre on Sunday 4 May – have you registered yet?

Organised by Chorley Council in conjunction with Fylde Coast Runners, this annual event has grown from strength to strength since it started in 2019 and brings thousands to Chorley each year.

Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, Councillor Peter Wilson said "We’re delighted to be delivering the Chorley 10K and 2K Family Run event again this year, which attracts thousands of people to Chorley.

“The event has become a firm favourite for runners, with people travelling from far and wide to take part in the Chorley 10K and hundreds of local families and fun runners taking part in the 2K Family Run, so why not join them and get signed up for this year’s event.”

Both races start and finish on Market Street where the atmosphere is always amazing, with the route taking runners through the beautiful Astley Park, which is lined with spectators cheering competitors on.

The Chorley 10K is a chip-timed race, with a two-lap course, starting at 10:30am, with minimum entry age being 15 years (on the day of the race). Entry fee is £25, or £23 if a UKA Club Runner.

Runners must be aged 4 years and over (on the day of the race) to enter the 2K Family Run which starts at 9.30am. Entry fee for the 2K run is £6.50 per entrant.

All entrants will receive a unique medal at the finish line.

Competitors can run just for fun or to raise money for their chosen charity should they wish.

Those wishing to enter can do so on the Check Out Chorley website.

It’s not all about running. Spectators are encouraged to come and line the route to cheer the runners on, enjoy the run village on Fazakerley Street, face painting for children (fee applies), plus the 1498 food and drink area of the covered market will be open.

Businesses are encouraged to get involved in the event by providing offers for medal holders and can email events@chorley.gov.uk to express their interest.
