In response to resident feedback, Chorley Council are pleased to announce that Brinscall Swimming Pool’s opening hours will be extended allowing for extended public and community swimming.
The new opening hours are set to come into place in early 2026.
The 100-year-old pool is a much-loved leisure facility in the borough which last year was refurbished by Chorley Council with a £600,000 investment. The work included repairs to the pool structure and an upgrade of the poolside facilities and changing areas all in keeping with the historic features of the site.
The pool and poolside have both been retiled including replacement steps into the pool, the cubicles have been refreshed, there are brand new shower and WC facilities alongside new LED lighting and Air Handling Units which have been installed. The entrance and reception area have also been refurbished.
Councillor Margaret France, Councillor Gordon France, and Councillor Jenny Whiffen who represent the Chorley North East Ward which includes Brinscall have taken feedback from residents and users of Brinscall Pool and have championed the extension of the opening hours.
Councillor Whiffen said, “Feedback from residents and users of the facility is so important and their views always inform our decision making. We know that people wanted this facility to open for longer, allowing for more public swims, and that is exactly what we have done, and I look forward to seeing even more people enjoy the pool from early next year.”
Councillor Gordon France said, “The 100-year facility is a landmark in Chorley and to see it refurbished ready for the future generations of residents to enjoy is wonderful to see and I’m pleased we can now open even longer. I have been enjoying Brinscall Pool as a swimmer for many years and I’m proud that we are able to continue this legacy for others.”
Councillor Margaret France said, “As councillors for the Chorley North East ward we want the best for our residents, and we know how important Brinscall Pool is to the community. I’m delighted that we have been able to champion our residents’ voices and extend the hours for the pool from early next year. We know how well used the facility is and we want to make sure it can be enjoyed by as many people as possible.”
Full details of extended hours will be shared soon but will include both early morning and lunchtime public swimming.
