How to pay Council Tax
There are several ways to pay your Council Tax and you are responsible for paying on time. Please take advantage of the payment method that is best suited to your circumstances.
Pay Council Tax by Direct Debit
Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay. It's simple, safe and secure and you only need to give us your details once.
You can choose to pay your Direct Debit monthly in 10 or 12 instalments on the 1st, 15th or 28th of each month.
To set up a Direct Debit you will need:
- an email address
- your Council Tax reference number which can be found on your Council Tax bill
- your bank or building society name, address, account number and sort code.

You can also pay using our secure online payments system.
You will need to have your debit or credit card and your Council Tax account reference number which can be found on your Council Tax bill.
You will have to remember to do this each time your payment is due.

Pay Council Tax by telephone
You can pay by credit or debit card through our secure automated telephone payments system which is available 24/7. Call 01257 511000 and quote your account reference number which can be found on your Council Tax bill. You will then be asked for your credit or debit card details.
Pay Council Tax at any Post Office or PayPoint outlet
You can make your payment at any Post Office and PayPoint outlet. Please take your bill with a barcode on the front when making payment and allow 3 working days for payment to reach our account.
