Advice to residents
Rat activity in gardens can often be effectively managed by removing food sources and harbourage. In particular, we advise:
- remove any bird feeders (this is the most common way in which rats are attracted to gardens)
- ensure any compost bins are rodent proof
- remove any other potential food sources such as fallen fruit from trees
- reduce harbourage for rats by keeping vegetation well maintained and remove any unneeded items from your garden that could be used as hiding places for rodents.
