We provide a range of sports pitches across the borough for football association league matches.

There are a number of sports pitches in our parks and open spaces. They are generally booked for a full or half season and allocated to set teams.   

If you have a team that would like to play football within the borough on the following sites you will need to contact us by email to contact@chorley.gov.uk or call us on 01257 515151.

  • Astley Park playing pitches and change facilities
  • Gillibrand playing pitches and associated change facilities at Buttermere Community Centre (parking at Buttermere only. Parking in residential areas around the pitches is not permitted under the terms of the Pitch Hire Agreement)
  • Great Greens Lane playing pitch, Clayton Brook
  • King George V playing pitches and changing facilities, Adlington
  • Jubilee Recreation Ground playing pitches, Adlington.

Fees and Charges

  • full pitch hire is £220 for under 18’s per annum
  • full pitch hire is £230 for over 18’s per annum
  • pitch hire with changing facilities and showers is £365 per annum.

Half season hire can be offered for half the cost.

First half of the season runs August, September, October, November and December.

Second half of the season is January, February, March, April and May.

Second half of the season is January, February, March, April and May.

Other council owned pitches available to hire

The following sites are leased out to clubs who manage the bookings, please contact the representatives below

It is recommended that you contact the appropriate representatives by the end of June in order to be allocated a pitch in time for the start of the season in September.

Sports pitches for informal kick around

There are smaller pitches in the borough for an informal kick around at the following sites:

  • Rangletts Recreation Ground, Chorley
  • Cottage Fields, Eaves Green
  • Tansley Avenue play area, Coppull

Astley Park playing pitch parking

Parking for football teams and spectators using Astley Park is on Hallgate car park Astley Village, Queens Road Car Park, Park Road and Town Centre car parks. Parking of vehicles associated with football teams in other areas of the park is not permitted under the terms of the Pitch Hire Agreement.

Westway Sports Hub

Westway Sports Hub is professional standard playing pitch hub, with 1 full size 3G pitch, 1 full size 11 v 11 and 2 9 v 9 grass pitches and a pavilion.
