Food waste truck competition
Earlier this year, we invited primary school pupils from across the borough to put their creativity to the test and help us name our food waste collection trucks.
We were delighted by the response, with lots of imaginative, funny and inventive entries submitted by local children. From hungry monsters and mighty captains to recycling heroes and food waste fighters, the ideas showcased the fantastic creativity of our young residents.
The competition was designed to help raise awareness of food waste recycling in a fun and engaging way, while encouraging children to think about the important role these vehicles play in helping us reduce waste and recycle more.
Following a judging process, seven winning names were selected and six names have now been proudly displayed on our food waste collection trucks The winning pupils were invited to meet the vehicles and see their chosen names brought to life.
A huge congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who took part. We loved reading every single entry and are grateful to all the pupils, teachers and schools who supported the competition.
