After the success from last years warm spaces programme and the welcome spaces delivered over the summer months, we are working alongside groups and organisations to deliver another warm space offer this winter.

How to become a warm space
To become a warm space you must simply sign our warm spaces charter and enhance the activity you currently run to meet the requirements of the charter.
In summary you will be required to:
- have regular weekly activity that lasts at least 1 hour
- offer free entry
- provide either free refreshments and/or meal or free access to household essential items (such as sanitary products, childcare essentials, hygiene products)
- provide free access to device charging points and Wi Fi
- provide signposting into additional cost of living and health and wellbeing support
- provide a friendly, warm and welcoming space
- to host or facilitate a Chorley conversation session to understand peoples needs.
- there are also some simple monitoring requirements that you will be required to submit.
Each warm space will be eligible for a grant of £1,000 dependant upon their offer which is outlined in the charter.

Funding will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, with consideration for a broad range of activity that meets the diverse needs of communities across the borough.
Apply to be a warm space
To apply the organisation must:
- be a voluntary, community or faith sector group operating within Chorley
- have a group bank account, individuals cannot apply.
To apply, you should complete the warm spaces application form, and return to us by email to communities@chorley.gov.uk.
Type of projects that we will be funded
The fund aims to enhance the life of people in Chorley and support better outcomes for our residents.
Funding will particularly look to enable groups to react to the current cost of living challenges that our communities are experiencing and help provide a space where they can keep warm, receive a hot beverage and/or meal and access support if required.
Funding awarded must be used by 28 February 2025. The confirmation of the spend and outcomes will need to be provided.
