Employment support

We provide support to those who have found themselves furloughed, at risk of redundancy or unemployed as a result of the coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic.

You may even just be looking to learn new skills or considering a career change.

We are here to help.

As part of Chorley Together, we are working in partnership with a whole host of organisations who are dedicated to supporting you.

Find employment support now

Self-referral

There is an employment support directory that shows what support is available throughout Chorley.

Whether you need assistance with writing a professional CV and covering letter or guidance on appropriate courses, you can choose the right organisation for you and contact them independently.

If none of these seem right for you, then the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub has brought together information about Lancashire-wide support for:

  • people who are working or furloughed and want to learn new skills
  • people who are at risk of redundancy or who have been made redundant
  • people not in work who are looking for a job.

As well as this, the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub's Escalate database is an online tool which can also help you get started on your journey to work.

Answer a few simple questions and it will search through a database of over 100 projects to find the support that is both local to you and that meets your needs.

Get tailored, expert advice through telephone or video conference calls

We provide tailored, expert support for a range of things including:

  • confidence building and improving key skills
  • CVs and covering letters
  • interview skills
  • job searching
  • completing job application forms
  • courses and training opportunities available in the area.

Please contact us on 01257 515151 or by emailing employmentservice@chorley.gov.uk and let us know what you are looking for.

Following this, we can either create bespoke tailored packages of support that will help you in taking your next steps or signpost you to other employment support services on your behalf.

We are here to support you at every stage. For those who are unable to participate in telephone or video conference calls then alternative arrangements can be made.

Similarly, you may require support for other challenges you may be facing. In these circumstances, we can signpost you to services that can assist you with crisis support such as food banks, psychological health services and debt advice, for example, or we can link you up with our Link Worker team who can help you work through your concerns and identify and support you in taking the next step.

Volunteering

Volunteering is a very good step into the world of work and can have several benefits including:

  • increasing self-confidence
  • gaining vital work-place experience
  • providing a sense of purpose and routine
  • a chance to meet with like minded people.

We can help you access volunteering opportunities with local community groups or with other local charities and organisations.
