It is important that we have strategies and policies in place in order to ensure that our long-term goals translate into actions on the front line and that we have efficient and effective processes. It is through this that we can deliver high quality services and improve outcomes in our communities.

The law on Data Protection tells us how to ensure that the information we create and hold is processed in accordance with your individual rights.

Equality, diversity, and inclusion form an important part of our values. It effects how decisions are made, how services are delivered, and how staff are recruited.

It is essential that we effectively monitor performance against our objectives, as this allows us to: •understand how we are progressing against our priorities •shape service performance improvement •inform decision making •inform our strategies and ensure we focus our resources where they are most needed •empower local people and be accountable and transparent for our performance.

Consultations give the opportunity for our customers to tell us about their needs and are carried out routinely throughout the year. When we have to make a decision about improving or changing services it is important that we consult with our residents.

The Freedom of Information Act gives rights of access to information held by public authorities such as Chorley Council.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults, and to delivering services that promote good practice, and expects all council representatives, colleagues and partners to share this commitment.

The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) provide you with a right of access to a wide range of environmental information held by the council.

To comply with the requirements of GDPR, Chorley Council must seek your permission to hold your personal data or rely upon a lawful basis for processing your personal information.

Solicitors and claimant representatives should submit all personal injury claims (not exceeding £25,000) directly to our insurers via the claims portal.

The Data Protection Act 2018 gives individuals the right to ask Chorley Council (or any other Public Authority) whether or not we hold information about them, and to ask for a copy of the information. This is known as a Subject Access Request. The individual who is the subject of the requested data is known as the Data Subject.
