The Lancastrian

Part of Chorley’s historic Town Hall, the Lancastrian is a large function room offering great facilities for up to 400 people with a newly refurbished licenced bar and stage. This beautiful and very versatile room is available to hire for all kinds of events.

    The bar is run by the team from The Cellar Bar who cater for all types of events and will be happy to discuss your individual needs whether it is for a full bar, a selection of wine and champagne, a variety of bottle beers, draught beer or pre-booked interval drinks.

  • Business and trade

    Conveniently located within easy reach of the motorway network and with excellent rail links and town centre parking, the Lancastrian provides the ideal venue for your business event whether it's an all day conference, evening training event or weekend exhibition. Full use of our presentation equipment and PA system is included and with full day and half day delegate rates available, we can provide a hassle free and cost effective venue for your event.



  • Weddings, dinner dances and other celebrations


    ​The grandeur and elegance of the Lancastrian provides the perfect setting for your special event. With a large dance floor, choice of round or rectangular tables and even a stage, the Lancastrian can accommodate weddings and other celebrations with up to 300 guests or 200 – 250 guests if you require a dance floor.

    We would be happy to discuss formats and the room layouts – or click on room layouts and options for some suggestions. Table linen can also be hired from just £3 per item.

  • Concerts, shows and cabaret nights

    With a large stage and capacity to seat up to 380 people, the Lancastrian is perfectly suited to concerts and shows. Recently refurbished, the backstage area now offers performers the use of a private washroom and dressing room.


  • Sport, leisure and community events

    Whether you want to hold a boxing match, dance event, awards ceremony or art exhibition the Lancastrian could be just the venue for you.

  • Catering at the Lancastrian

    ​Holding your event at the Lancastrian offers you the flexibility to choose your own caterer. The venue does not have full kitchen facilities but there are many caterers who have provided catering for all types of events at the venue. All we insist is that your chosen caterer is registered with a local council and has a food hygiene rating of three or above.

    When you have chosen your caterer you can check the Food Standards Agency website to find out whether they are a registered caterer and what their food hygiene rating is.

    Whilst we cannot recommend caterers we can work with your chosen caterer to ensure your event runs smoothly.



  • Room layouts and options

    Whatever your event, we will work with you to find the best layout for you. The size of the room lends itself to a wide range of layout options which can be tailored to meet your requirements. The most popular room layouts and the maximum capacities are shown below:

    Concert style – maximum capacity 380 people
    Rows of seating with one or two aisles

    Round tables style 1– maximum capacity 250 people
    Round tables seating 8, space for buffet table, top table on stage, no dance floor.

    Round tables style 2 – maximum capacity 220 people
    Round tables seating 8, space for buffet table, top table on stage, dance floor.

    Long tables style – maximum capacity 300 people
    Rows of rectangular tables, space for buffet table, top table on stage, no dance floor.

  • Prices

    The Lancastrian is a popular venue and we urge people to book well in advance. Every event is different so please contact us for a price tailored to your requirements. We offer discounts for frequent bookings or regular bookings and are happy to work with you to offer the best price possible.

    Some illustrative hire packages are below - please note these are estimates and may vary according to individual requirements.

    • A Saturday evening celebration for 200, seated on large round tables with a dance floor and licensed bar until midnight, £480. The same event on a Friday evening, £400.
    • A Saturday evening concert style event for up to 350, seated in rows theatre style, including a licensed bar (also serving coffee etc) and 3 hours set up/rehearsal time £520, the same event on a Friday evening £430.
    • A midweek full day conference or training event for 150, use of stage and large screen for presentations, delegates seated on large round tables with coffee, tea, biscuits throughout the day, water on tables, £430.

    Please note that we do not provide catering – you must source this externally but we can provide you with contact information for local caterers who have provided food at previous events, on request. Similarly we do not provide a room dressing service (other than tablecloths) but can provide contact details for room dressing companies who have dressed the venue on previous occasions.
