Have your say on proposed Public Protection Orders for Chorley Town Centre

Residents, businesses and visitors are being asked to have their say on plans to introduce a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Chorley Town Centre.

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is a tool available to Councils under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and are intended to be used to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a specific area that is having a detrimental effect to the local community’s quality of life, by imposing conditions on the use of that area which apply to everyone

Proposals to strengthen and extend the previous order are being put forward to help officers tackle key issues such as town centre safety.

The draft orders consider issues such as street drinking, begging, anti-social behaviour, using bikes and scooters irresponsibly, urination and defecating in a public place, among other issues.
