Why are there no candidates from the main political parties for Chorley, or at least the party I want to vote for?

You may find that the candidates from main political parties do not appear on your ballot paper.

This is because there is an agreement between the main political parties that they will not put a candidate up against the Speaker of the House who is Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

The council is not involved in the candidate decision-making process and if you do have any complaint or concerns about this, we recommend you approach the relevant political party.

Please note, we don't hold contact details for the political parties.
