What you need before you start your application
Before you start you will need:
- national insurance number
- full names and dates of birth for each household member
- 5 year's address history for all members of the household
- current landlord's details (where applicable).
Social housing application process
Social housing applications are done on the Select Move website.
Select Move is not a Chorley Council site, you will be taken away from our website when you select to register or to log in to Select Move.
- if you haven't already, you will need to register for Select Move. You will be given a 6 digit login reference and asked to provide a date you can remember for your log in. You can set this to any date you like
- if you have previously registered but have forgotten your details, these can be reset via the Select Move Website
- once your application has been approved and activated an activation letter stating what band priority you have been awarded and the type of property you should bid on depending on your circumstances and household make up.
- lists of homes to rent are published daily on the Select Move website
- to apply for a property, you must tell Select Move that you wish to be considered for it
- you can apply for a property using the Select Move website
- new properties available to rent are advertised every day and are advertised for 5 days
- you are able to bid on any number of suitable properties
- you should only apply for a property that is suitable for the size of your family
- if more than 1 person applies for the same property, you will be given a queue position assessed on your individual circumstances based on your band, the property band, the property location, the band assessment date and the date that you registered with Select Move
- once you have been offered a property, checks will be done to make sure you are eligible. You will then be invited to view the property
- if you cannot be contacted or you do not make yourself available, the property will be offered to the next person
- you will have 24 hours after your viewing to decide on your offer
- if you want to accept the offer you should let the officer who made the offer know and they will arrange an interview for you to have a financial check and to sign your new tenancy agreement
- if you do not pass the financial check, the offer may be cancelled.
