Community Access volunteer
Location: Community based
Qualifications, skills, knowledge or experience required
- parent or carer of young people, or current / previous professional experience
- passionate about supporting, enabling and empowering people who are vulnerable, isolated or in need of support
- all training is provided
- enhanced DBS is required, can be applied for by HSCL
- confidentiality is paramount
- a non-judgemental attitude to supporting families from all backgrounds.
Key duties and responsibilities
- to support parents to access parent and child groups, local parks and resources, or community groups
- to support parents to access adult focused community and wellbeing groups.
- promote the service and share volunteering experiences to help recruit new volunteers.
Time commitment
Variable.
In-home support volunteer
Location: Community/home based
Qualifications, skills, knowledge or experience required

- passionate about supporting, enabling and empowering people who are vulnerable, isolated or in need of support
- all training is provided
- enhanced DBS is required, can be applied for by HSCL
- confidentiality is paramount
- a non-judgemental attitude to supporting families from all backgrounds.

Key duties and responsibilities
- to provide regular, friendly and person-centred support to families for a minimum of 2 to 3 hours per week
- to draw upon own experiences to support emotional wellbeing and encourage parent strengths
- to provide practical parenting support, support accessing the community, hands-on in-home support and other areas that arise for the family.
Time commitment
2 hours a week upwards.
Group volunteer
Location: Community based
Qualifications, skills, knowledge or experience required
- passionate about supporting, enabling and empowering people who are vulnerable, isolated or in need of support
- all training is provided
- enhanced DBS is required, can be applied for by HSCL
- confidentiality is paramount
- a non-judgemental attitude to supporting families from all backgrounds.
- assist with the setting up of an early years environment
- build relationships with families to reduce isolation and promote social inclusion
- welcoming, friendly and calm nature.
Key duties and responsibilities
- to provide regular, friendly and person-centred support to families for a minimum of 2 to 3 hours per week
- to draw upon own experiences to support emotional wellbeing and encourage parent strengths
- to provide practical parenting support, support accessing the community, hands-on in-home support and other areas that arise for the family
- give practical help to parents to support children’s development
- signpost to appropriate services
- safeguard all children and adults.
Time commitment
2 to 3 hours a week.
Befriending volunteer
Location: Chorley
Qualifications, skills, knowledge or experience required
- passionate about supporting, enabling and empowering people who are vulnerable, isolated or in need of support
- all training is provided
- enhanced DBS is required, can be applied for by HSCL
- confidentiality is paramount
- a non-judgemental attitude to supporting families from all backgrounds
- welcoming, friendly and calm nature
- confident speaking on the telephone
- record and share relevant information.
Key duties and responsibilities
- to provide regular, friendly and person-centred support to families for a minimum of 1 to 2 hours per week
- to draw upon own experiences to support emotional wellbeing and encourage parent strengths
- Provide telephone support for parents and carers in need of emotional support.
Time commitment
1 to 2 Hours per week.
