Individual Placement and Support (IPS)

We are a free employment service designed to support people living with Severe Mental Illness (SMI) to find and sustain paid work. Our service is confidential, person-centred, and delivered by trained employment specialists who understand the challenges and opportunities that come with returning to or remaining in employment.

The IPS Service is available to those aged 16+ across Lancashire and South Cumbria, with dedicated support provided throughout Chorley.

Support available: Getting back into work, or staying in work, can play a vital role in your wellbeing and recovery. We offer:

  • one-to-one support from experienced Employment Specialists
  • help finding suitable and sustainable paid work that matches your goals
  • guidance with CV writing, job applications, and interview preparation
  • ongoing in-work support to help you maintain your role
  • advice on managing your mental health at work
  • information about benefits and workplace adjustments
  • continued support once you’re in employment

You’ll receive tailored, individual support for up to 12 months, with a further 6 months of in-work support to ensure a smooth and confident transition into employment and longer if needed, because we understand that finding the right role and feeling ready to work takes time, care and flexibility.

Eligibility

Our IPS service is free and open to school leavers aged 16+ who are living with or identify as having a severe mental illness and would like support to find or stay in paid employment.
