Our homeless duties
We have a legal duty to assess anyone who is homeless or at risk of becoming homeless within 56 days.
Following this assessment, we will agree a Personalised Housing Plan with you, based on the options available.
We will then provide support to prevent or relieve homelessness, which may include working with other services or agencies.
What happens after 56 days?
After the 56-day period, we have a statutory duty to provide accommodation if you meet all of the following criteria:
- you are unintentionally homeless
- you are eligible for assistance
- you are in priority need
- you can demonstrate a local connection
How we can help
If you are homeless or about to become homeless, we will try to prevent homelessness by helping you stay in your current accommodation wherever possible.
We can also advise you on different housing options, including:
- Private rented housing
- Social housing
- Supported accommodation
